Introduction:

A 29-bedroom, pub hotel and restaurant, owned and operated by Heartwood Inns Limited, on the edge of Epping Forest, adjacent to Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge.

Recently refurbished to a four-star standard of accommodation and with a pub and restaurant in keeping with Heartwood Inns.

The Inn is located on Ranger’s Road on the edge of Epping Forest, half a mile from Chingford station.

Taxis can be ordered from the Inn and our Team are pleased to help with this.

Car parking

A large car park with up to 70 spaces is at the front and rear of the Inn, accessed off the A1069, Rangers Road.

This is a tarmac surface with clearly marked bays.

There are 5 accessible parking bays at the front of the pub.

We do not reserve car parking spaces, they are provided on a first come, first served basis.

Arrival and Entrances

Access to the Inn for accommodation guests can be from both the front and rear of the Inn.

To the front, level access is gained during pub opening hours for both accommodation and dining. The outer doors open inwards onto a coir mat surface in the entrance way to a second inner door, which opens outwards, over a slight lip and onto a timber floor surface to the pub from where access to accommodation and dining can be gained.

To the rear, access is gained up a sloped ramp leading to the rear door of the pub.

If arriving after the pub has closed, please use the left-hand set of doors at the front of the pub. An intercom is available to connect with a member of the Team or if you have already registered, your room key / digital key will activate the rear door.

The door opens outwards and is not motorised. There is a slight lip over the threshold as you enter the building.

There is a coir mat surface to a second inner door, which opens inwards, over a slight lip onto the carpeted surface leading to the lift.

Staff are always on duty to assist if required and, as a minimum, will be located at the restaurant host stand and main bar.

Registration

Guests who have booked overnight accommodation can register either at our reception desk or we can complete the registration process at a table.

Our registration process is paperless and is completed on one of our portable tablets.

Room keys are available either as a digital key on your mobile phone or as a credit card size plastic key.

Both will provide access to your bedroom and any other door required to give access to your room or the pub.

The Ground Floor

The Pub and Restaurant are located on the ground floor.

Level access is provided throughout.

Floor surfaces are timber or tile.

Access to the pub from our bedrooms is through an inward opening door, accessed using your room key or digital key.

Seating is available in various spaces around the bar and restaurant.

We are dog friendly and allow dogs in certain areas of the bar. Assistance Dogs are welcome in the restaurant area whereas unfortunately pets are not permitted.

Background music is played continually at low volume.

There is ample space in which to move around and seating can be moved to accommodate as necessary.

Waiter service is offered throughout the ground floor and specific dietary needs are catered for.

A ‘no smoking’ policy is in effect throughout. This policy includes the smoking of e-cigarettes and any such similar devices as well as all other tobacco products.

Baby changing facilities are available in the Accessible Toilet.

Toilet facilities

There are ladies, gentlemen’s and accessible toilets on the ground floor, situated to the rear of the pub.

The accessible toilet has a wooden floor surface, emergency pull cord and baby changing facilities. Support rails are situated in the disabled access toilet as well as coat hooks.

Bedrooms

There are 29 bedrooms at the Inn, spread over 4 floors.

There are 2 bedrooms on the lower ground floor, with carpeted bedroom floors and tiled bathroom floors, accessed by stairs or the lift.

There are 2 rooms on the ground floor with wooden bedroom floors and tiled bathroom floors. One room has an accessible wetroom.

There are 15 rooms on the first floor with carpeted floors and tiled bathroom floors. One room is accessible with a full wetroom. These rooms can be accessed by the lift from the rear entrance to the Inn.

There are 10 rooms on the second floor, all have carpeted bedroom floors and tiled bathroom floors.

Some, but not all, beds can be either doubles or twins.

Some rooms have pull out beds for children, up to the age of 12 years.

All rooms will accommodate a baby cot.

Please ask for room specifications at the point of booking if you have specific requests.

Corridor floors are carpeted and level throughout.

Please advise us on booking if you have any concerns and we can advise on the most appropriate room types to book if you have any mobility concerns.

All our bedrooms have seating at the desk and other seating subject to the room type.

A tea tray with a selection of items is in each room along with a cordless kettle, iron and board, and a television with casting solution.

There is a safe in each room and a fridge in which we provide bottled water.

We do not provide room service.

Well behaved dogs and assistance dogs are welcome.

If advised of assistance being required in the event of an emergency, a staff member will knock on the bedroom door to assist with any evacuation.

The Inn is staffed throughout the day and night and should you require any assistance to evacuate the building, please let our team know on arrival or at registration.

All bedrooms and corridors are designated as non-smoking areas. This policy includes the smoking of e-cigarettes and any such similar devices as well as all other tobacco products.

Bathrooms and bathrooms

All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms which, due to the age of the building, vary in shape and size. All rooms have a walk-in shower with a small step for access.

Our Luxe rooms also have a feature bath in the bedroom or bathroom.

Accessible rooms

We have two accessible bedrooms, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor. The first floor room bed can be either set as a super king or two twin beds.

The bathrooms are accessible wetrooms with grab rails.

Access to the pub from our bedrooms is through an inward opening door, accessed using your room key or digital key.

Fire Alarm

The Inn has a fully audible fire alarm with sounders positioned around the building. In the event of the alarm being triggered you are asked to evacuate the building to the fire assembly point.

The alarm can be raised at the break glass points positioned around the building or by contacting a member of the Inn Team.

For guests who are staying overnight, a portable “deafguard” system is available from our Host station should you be hard of hearing.
The fire alarm is tested weekly, usually on a Tuesday.
